And so I have been on the ninth overnight stay on my challenge for the year: 52 Weeks of Wilderness: A Year of Adventure Camping and Hiking in the Stavanger Area, Norway
Minimum one overnight sleep in nature every week in 2024.
Stavanger Adventure offers premium private guided hikes, tailored to fit your preferences for a personalized and unforgettable outdoor experience.
This week's journey found me going solo once more, stepping straight off a business flight, changing into my hiking attire, and heading for the trail. Craving a change of scenery, I decided to camp by the sea along the Jæren beaches, settling on the picturesque Vigdelstranda. There, I found a quiet height that offered solitude and a breathtaking view of the surroundings.
Dinner was a simple affair – a store-bought roasted chicken that tasted divine, especially paired with a delightful apple juice. Post-meal, I ventured to explore the vicinity and headed towards a nearby elevation, Hellestøveten. On the way I encountered two hares, their winter coats making them a striking sight against the landscape.
As the sun began to set on my little excursion, I couldn't resist capturing the moment. Notice the surfers riding the waves in the beautiful light – I might have felt a twinge of envy if not for the thought of the chilly water temperatures this time of year.
On the way back, I stumbled upon a small quarry with white stones – the type eludes me. Amidst them, I found fragments that resembled crystals, sparking the idea of returning in daylight with the right equipment to unearth any hidden gems within this mound.
Back at my tent, as the sun dipped below the horizon, the 'blue hour' descended, casting an ethereal light over the beach.
The following morning, I packed up my tent quite early and was at my desk by 07:00, coffee in hand. Reflecting on the trip, I could conclude that once again, the project was a success, offering new memorable experiences.
See you on the trail!!
