While the hike is categorized as level 2 (easy), it's important to note a challenging incline towards the end, adding a bit of excitement to the journey. Given its popularity, encounters with fellow hikers are common in this scenic area.

This hike is relatively short and take limited of our time together, so in addition to the hike to the summit we offer trying your hand at fjord fishing for cod, pollock, and mackerel in the fjord.

Hike Description

About a 40-minute drive from the pick-up point, we reach the parking area. Once at the hike's starting point, we conduct an equipment check, making any necessary adjustments. Following this, a brief safety briefing is provided, covering trail information, expected conditions, and useful hiking tips before embarking on today's exciting adventure!

The path up to Dalsnuten follows a well-marked trail, and it's only at the base of Dalsnuten that the ascent becomes more pronounced. Watch out for wet sections with a stony surface. We undertake this hike as a round trip, ascending on the east side and descending on the west side of Revholdstjørn.

The initial stretch past Gramstadtjørna and further towards Revholdstjørni follows a good gravel road. After that, the trail leads into the terrain, transitioning to a stone-paved path. We begin by passing Gramstadtjørn and traversing a small forest where shelters are set up. Here we can prepare our food in case of bad weather. The journey continues between two stone fences, an old path where sheep and cows were led to pasture in days gone by. The well-crafted stone walls here are remnants of the Revholen farm, inhabited until just after the war. The old orchard is still a sight to behold in spring.

A resting possibility at our Dalsnuten hike in the Stavanger area

We pass the east side of Revholstjørn, and the gentle start to the hike abruptly ends at Kvitemyra, marking the ascent towards Dalsnuten. From Revholstjørn to the summit of Dalsnuten, the ascent is 137 meters, allowing most hikers to warm up before reaching the top. Dalsnuten stands at an elevation of 323 meters, providing a fantastic panoramic view of Sandnes, most of Stavanger, and the rest of Jæren!

On the way back, we follow the route along the west side of Revholstjørn. Here, we observe the remains of the Lundane croft before returning to the road. If we wish to extend the hike, there's an option to take an extra loop via Øvre Eikenuten.

As we navigate our way through the captivating landscapes during our hike, we will select a suitable spot to either set up a portable fire pit, thoughtfully brought along for the hike, or craft a natural fire if the environmental conditions allow. We prepare food, enjoy something warm to drink, and relish the view. This intentional pause in our exploration serves as a moment of connection with the surroundings. In these interludes, the hike transcends being merely a physical activity; it becomes a holistic and immersive adventure, leaving us with lasting memories of both the journey and the moments of respite along the way.

Dalsnuten is undeniably among the most popular and visited trails in Sandnes municipality. Hence, solitude isn't a characteristic of this route, making it less suitable for those who prefer solitary hikes.

We meet at the pickup point with warm greetings and install you in the car. While in the car, we'll dicuss the day's objectives, lay out the day's plan, and start getting to know each other a bit.

Upon reaching the hike's starting point, we'll conduct an equipment check and make any necessary adjustments. Following this, we'll provide a brief safety briefing before embarking on today's exciting adventure!

We reach the summit of
Dalsnuten at an elevation of 323 meters, providing a fantastic panoramic view of Sandnes, most of Stavanger, and the rest of Jæren!. Here, we take a well-deserved break to savor the panoramic views and refuel with some food and drinks.

We have now returned to the car, assuming we didn't opt for an extended mountain hike in this area. It's time to decide which additional activity you'd like to pursue, "Fishing in the Fjord" or visiting the "Swords in Rock".

Fishing in the Fjord: we head to Dale quay where there are excellent opportunities to hunt the creatures of the sea. The guide will assist you in setting up the equipment and getting started.

Regrettably, our time together has come to an end as we arrive back at the drop-off point. We say our goodbyes and hope to meet again.

The example provided is just one way to experience this hike. This trail offers flexibility and can be tailored to your desired length, allowing for various extensions and options.
