Hike Description

An approximately 60-minute drive from the pick-up point, we approach the starting point of our hike. Once at the hike's starting point, we conduct an equipment check, making any necessary adjustments. Following this, a brief safety briefing is provided, covering trail information, expected conditions, and useful hiking tips before embarking on today's exciting adventure!

The hike begins easily on a gravel road in beautiful surroundings alongside a lake. The road leads only to scattered cabins, making the area typically tranquil and idyllic. After about 1.8 km, the gravel road ends, and we venture into the terrain, following a trail along some beautiful lakes.

Premium Private Guided Hike to Lauvnesknuten

The terrain is occasionally damp, but no less charming, and we traverse the open and clear landscape until we reach a crossroad and turn north against the fjord. It is usually desirable to take small breaks to capture the surroundings in photos, which is completely understandable in this magical terrain!

A few meters higher, followed by a descent, before tackling a few more meters upwards! But soon, we are almost at the top!

Now, Ramnstoknuten awaits – a well-crafted cairn marks the summit of this mountain that we admired from the car earlier. What a view! Towards Høgsfjorden in the northwest, and towards Frafjorden winding eastward between the towering mountains! Here, we take a break, enjoy something warm to eat and drink while savoring the view and patting ourselves on the back for reaching the top.

Crystal clear drinking water on our Lauvnesknuten hike

After a good break, the journey back follows the same route, but if time allows and our legs are up for it, we have the opportunity to take more detours to gain new perspectives and backgrounds on our hiking memories.

Additionally, note that this hike originates from the same starting point as our hike to Ramnstosknuten, situated slightly west on this plateau. If time and physical condition permit, there's an opportunity to combine both and conquer both peaks in one expedition.

PS! This is a long and challenging trip.  On weekdays, we must maintain a steady pace to adhere to the schedule.  We, therefore, recommend not booking this hike if you are unsure whether you comfortably fit within Level 3+. On the weekend day version of the hike, there is more time available, allowing for a more relaxed pace.

Weekday Hike

Embarking on a weekend day hike provides us with the luxury of abundant time, allowing us to relish every nuance of the journey. Although the trail replicates that of our weekday hike, the extended duration and prolonged breaks promise to elevate the overall experience even further :)

Our leisurely pace grants us the freedom to immerse ourselves in the enchanting surroundings, appreciating the smallest details along the way. We'll carve out ample moments for making a campfire, make some food, and the pursuit of additional activities like fishing and swimming, should the interest and opportunities present themselves. So, lace up your hiking boots, embrace the unhurried rhythm, and let's make the most of this weekend adventure!

The legend of Lauvnesknuten

In the ancient times when the fjords echoed with the whispers of the wind and the mountains stood as sentinels of the land, there existed a mysterious place known as Lauvnesknuten. Legends spoke of mystical beings that roamed the rugged landscapes, and among them were the elusive trolls.

It is said that deep within the heart of Lauvnesknuten, where the shadows danced among the craggy rocks and the ancient trees stood tall, trolls would gather during the moonlit nights. These creatures of Norse folklore, with gnarled features and eyes that gleamed in the darkness, held a special connection to the mountain.

The legend tells of a benevolent troll named Olav, who resided in a hidden cave beneath Lauvnesknuten. Olav was known for his wisdom and kindness, often helping lost travelers find their way through the winding trails. In return, he asked only for respect for the natural world and the creatures that dwelled within.

However, not all trolls shared Olav's benevolence. There were mischievous trolls who played pranks on unsuspecting hikers, leading them astray with illusions and echoes. It was said that those who approached Lauvnesknuten with a pure heart would be guided by Olav, while those with darker intentions might encounter the tricks of the mischievous trolls.

As the legend goes, Lauvnesknuten became a place where the realms of humans and trolls intertwined, creating an enchanting and sometimes challenging journey for those who sought the summit. Even today, hikers on the trails around Lauvnesknuten may catch glimpses of mysterious shadows and hear the distant laughter of trolls, echoing through the  ancient mountainside.
