Hike Description
About a 40-minute drive from the pick-up point, having just traveled 292m below the fjord from Stavanger. we reach the parking area. Once at the hike's starting point, we conduct an equipment check, making any necessary adjustments. Following this, a brief safety briefing is provided, covering trail information, expected conditions, and useful hiking tips before embarking on today's exciting adventure!
The hike begins on a cart track, venturing into the terrain through cultural landscapes and eventually onto a somewhat challenging path towards Paradisskaret. Simple challenges, such as occasional steep ascents, should be anticipated. At Paradisskaret, we embark on a steep climb of 140 meters, likely the most demanding part of the entire circular route.
We take it easy, allowing time to appreciate the view with every step. In the southern direction, Vedafjellet comes into view, and we overlook substantial parts of Dybingen and Lutsivatnet. Ascending the mountain ridge, a magnificent panoramic view unfolds, and we also have the opportunity for a brief detour to summit Mattirudla (Lutsifjellet) at 346 meters above sea level. Here, the view is equally breathtaking, providing a perfect opportunity for a short break with refreshments.
After the break, the journey continues through pleasant terrain over Kuheia towards Bjørndalsfjellet. The ascent towards the summit is taken at a leisurely pace, anticipating the awaited view.
Upon reaching the cairn at the top of Bjørndalsfjellet, standing at 362 meters above sea level, a 360-degree panoramic view awaits. From here, we see Dalsnuten from the back, gaze far over Jæren, towards Stavanger, and inward towards Tau and Ryfylket. Additionally, we gain a comprehensive overview of the Lutsivassdraget.
It's time for a well-deserved break, where we savor the view, capture moments with photos, and enjoy some refreshments. The return journey typically takes about an hour, descending along the mountain ridge on a varied and challenging trail.
